Description
If you do not add butter, you can cool the syrup to room temperature and serve it with strawberries and whipped cream.
Ingredients
- Strawberry - 10.6 oz
- Sugar - 2.6 oz
- Basil - 4 pieces
- Water - 5 fl oz
- Butter - 1 teaspoon
- Whipped Cream - 3 fl oz
- Lemon - ¼ piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water for the syrup, add 3 sprigs of fresh basil, the juice and zest of a quarter lemon, cover with a lid, place over medium heat, and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Once the syrup boils, remove the lid and cook for another 8 minutes. Then strain to remove the basil leaves.
Step 2
Add a little cold butter to the hot syrup as a thickener and stir well. Allow the syrup to cool slightly.
Step 3
Cut the berries in half, place them in dessert bowls, and pour warm basil syrup over them. Garnish with whipped cream to taste.
