Description
Strawberry-Vanilla Mug Cake with Creamy Frosting, Made in the Microwave
Ingredients
- Butter - 1 tablespoon
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Vanillin - ½ teaspoon
- Sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 1.1 oz
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ground Cinnamon - ½ teaspoon
- Strawberry - 3 pieces
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a medium bowl, mix all the ingredients (except for the strawberries) and whisk until the batter is smooth and lump-free. Gently fold in the strawberries.
Step 2
Grease a mug with butter and pour in the prepared batter about 2/3 full (to prevent overflow as the batter rises). It’s better to divide the batter between two mugs so that each is only half full.
Step 3
Place the mug with the batter in the microwave and cook on high for 75 to 90 seconds or until done. It’s best to monitor the cooking process by standing right in front of the microwave. Since microwaves vary, one mug cake may be ready in 60 seconds, while another might take 2 minutes.
Step 4
If the cake is ready, remove it from the microwave and let it cool. Meanwhile, prepare the frosting: 1 tablespoon of melted butter; 30 g of powdered sugar; ¼ teaspoon of vanillin; 1 tablespoon of cream (or milk). Mix all the ingredients (except for the cream) in a small bowl and whisk to the desired consistency.
Step 5
You can adjust the thickness of the frosting by adding cream or milk. Drizzle the frosting over the mug cake so it soaks in. Alternatively, carefully remove the cake from the mug (run a knife around the sides to separate it from the mug) and invert it onto a plate, then drizzle with the creamy frosting.
