Description
Strudel with Drunken Pears
Ingredients
- Phyllo Dough - 8 pieces
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Pears - 4 pieces
- Red Grape Juice - 5 fl oz
- Macadamia Nuts - 3.5 oz
- Cinnamon - to taste
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Peel the pears and cut them into cubes. Melt 50 grams of butter in a saucepan, add sugar, and sauté the pears for about 5 minutes.
Step 2
Add the wine to the saucepan so that it completely covers the pears, and simmer until thickened.
Step 3
Toast the cashews in a dry skillet, chop them coarsely, and add to the pears. Also, add cinnamon.
Step 4
Melt the remaining butter.
Step 5
Layer 4 sheets of phyllo dough on top of each other, brushing each sheet with butter.
Step 6
Separate the pears from the sauce — this is the filling. Keep the sauce.
Step 7
Place the filling on the dough, covering about 1/3 of the dough. Roll it up. Repeat with the remaining filling and another 4 sheets of dough.
Step 8
Brush the rolls with melted butter.
Step 9
Bake in the oven at 356°F for 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
Step 10
Serve with ice cream and wine sauce.
