Ingredients
- Oranges - 1 piece
- Dry yeast - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 4 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 16.9 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 16 fl oz
- Egg white - 4 pieces
- Cognac - 3 tablespoons
- Vanilla salt - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Jam - 8 fl oz
- Powdered Sugar - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Wash the orange and grate the zest.
Step 2
Dissolve the yeast in a glass of warm water, add 1 tablespoon of sugar, stir, and let it sit in a warm place for 10–15 minutes.
Step 3
Prepare the dough: sift the flour into a bowl, make a well in the center, pour in the yeast mixture, add 4 tablespoons of oil, the yolks, and cognac, then add the remaining sugar, vanilla sugar, and orange zest, and lightly salt.
Step 4
Knead the dough until elastic, cover with a cloth, and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour.
Step 5
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1 cm, and cut out circles using a small plate or cup.
Step 6
Lightly brush each circle with vegetable oil and let them rest for 15–20 minutes.
Step 7
In a wide pot, pour in vegetable oil to a depth of about 4–5 cm and heat to 158°F.
Step 8
Carefully drop the donuts into the oil one by one, frying until golden brown on both sides, and place them on paper towels.
Step 9
Make a small cut on the edges of the finished donuts, and using a spoon, carefully fill them with jam, pressing the edges of the cuts together.
Step 10
Dust the donuts with powdered sugar and serve hot.
