Description

This Charlotte definitely has sweetness, which is achieved thanks to grape syrup used instead of sugar. This is how they prepare Charlotte at Joe's Diner.

Ingredients

  • Butter - 5.6 oz
  • Caramel Syrup - 2 fl oz
  • Wheat Flour - 9.9 oz
  • 33% Cream - 3 fl oz
  • Apple - 4 lbs
  • Baking Powder - 0.4 oz
  • Salt - to taste

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Beat the butter and grape syrup together. Then add the cream.

Step 2

In a separate bowl, mix the sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the creamy batter in four portions, stirring well each time. If you can't find grape syrup, it can easily be substituted with agave syrup, Jerusalem artichoke syrup, or date syrup.

Step 3

Dice the apples using any preferred method.

Step 4

Melt the butter in a skillet along with the apples. Cook the apples in the skillet for about two minutes.

Step 5

Spread a layer of dough 0.5 cm thick on the bottom of the baking pan, place the apples on top, and then add another layer of dough.

Step 6

Bake the pie in the oven at 338°F for 40 minutes.
