Description
Instead of glaze for decoration, you can use powdered sugar or shredded coconut.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 8.8 oz
- Raw cane sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Orange zest - 2 teaspoons
- Dry yeast - 0.2 oz
- Orange juice concentrate - 4 tablespoons
- Light Raisins, Seedless - 2.1 oz
- Butter - 1.6 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Water - 5 tablespoons
- Red Food Coloring - to taste
- Powdered Sugar - 4.4 oz
- Desiccated coconut - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Grease a baking sheet with butter. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Add the yeast, sugar, zest, and raisins. Mix and make a well in the center. Add the orange juice, lightly beaten egg, and 30 g of softened butter. Then pour in 4 tablespoons of warm water. Knead well, adding more water if necessary. Place on a floured surface and knead for another 10 minutes.
Step 2
Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and place in a warm spot for 45 minutes. Punch down the dough for 1 minute. Shape the dough into a ball and roll it out into a circle with a diameter of 25 cm. Transfer to the baking sheet, cover with a towel, and place in a warm spot for 30 minutes.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 356°F. Score the dough into 8 pieces without cutting all the way through. Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and, when cooled, glaze and sprinkle with shredded coconut.
Step 4
For the glaze, sift the powdered sugar. Mix the remaining butter and 1 tablespoon of boiling water in a saucepan. Place over low heat until the butter melts, then add the sugar. Mix until it forms a paste. Place the saucepan over a water bath and stir until the glaze becomes shiny. Remove from heat and tint the glaze with pink food coloring.
