Sweet Banitsa
Ingredients
- Phyllo Dough - 10 pieces
- 10% cream - 7 fl oz
- Semi-soft cream cheese - 10.6 oz
- Green Apples - 2 pieces
- Chocolate eggs - 3 pieces
- Dried Apricots - 10 pieces
- Cinnamon - a pinch
- Clarified Butter - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
For the filling, blend the cottage cheese, cream, eggs, and sugar well with an immersion blender.
Step 2
Then, cut 2 large green apples into cubes.
Step 3
Add finely chopped dried apricots and cinnamon.
Step 4
Mix everything together. The mixture should be somewhat loose.
Step 5
Prepare 10 sheets of phyllo dough.
Step 6
Melt 100 grams of butter.
Step 7
Line the bottom of the baking dish with 2 sheets, leaving the edges hanging over the sides. For the 1st sheet, folds and creases are welcome; brush with butter. Brush the 2nd sheet with butter as well.
Step 8
Next, crumple 5 sheets separately to form a sort of pouch.
Step 9
Spoon the filling into the pouches.
Step 10
Arrange the pouches in a circle in the dish, then pour the remaining filling evenly on top.
Step 11
Cover with a sheet on top, creating waves, brush with butter, and place another sheet unevenly on top, brushing it with butter.
Step 12
Decorate — I used caramel crystals and dried apricots.
Step 13
Bake for about 30 minutes at 356°F. Serve warm.
