Description
Sweet Loukoumades (Lokma) in Syrup
Ingredients
- Sugar - 0.5 oz
- Wheat Flour - 8.5 oz
- Dry yeast - 0.5 oz
- Salt - 0.2 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 24 fl oz
- Lemon - ¼ piece
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a large pot, add 720 ml of water and 15 g of sugar. Stir and bring to a boil. When it starts to boil, add the lemon juice. Mix everything, boil for another 5 minutes, then turn off the heat and let it cool.
Step 2
Mix the yeast, salt, and sugar with the flour. Slowly pour in 240 ml of warm water and knead the dough. The dough should be soft. Cover the dough and let it rise for about an hour.
Step 3
After an hour, when the dough has risen, mix it well again.
Step 4
For frying the doughnuts, pour 720 ml of vegetable oil into a medium-sized pan. Dip a spoon into the oil. Take a small amount of dough in your hand, squeeze it into a fist, and press out a small ball between your thumb and index finger. Use the spoon to scoop the small dough balls and immediately drop them into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown.
Step 5
When the doughnuts are ready, remove them and immediately dip them into the sweet syrup.
Step 6
After 5 minutes, take the doughnuts out of the syrup and place them on a plate. They can be served with pistachios, cinnamon, or honey.
