Description
These buns from Turkish cuisine wonderfully resemble French croissants.
Ingredients
- Milk - 13 fl oz
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Vegetable Oil - 7 fl oz
- Butter - 3.5 oz
- Toasted Sesame - 2 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 22.9 oz
- Dry yeast - 0.3 oz
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Toasted Cumin Seeds - 1 tablespoon
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Dissolve sugar and yeast in 100 grams of warm milk. Allow the yeast to froth slightly. Add the remaining warm milk, salt, and 500 g of flour to the yeast. Knead until a slightly sticky dough forms.
Step 2
Add vegetable oil and mix it well into the dough. Add the remaining flour. Knead the dough thoroughly.
Step 3
Cover the bowl with the dough with a napkin and place it in a warm place to rise for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Step 4
Tear off small pieces of dough. Shape each piece into a small thin flatbread with your hands. Brush it with melted butter. Roll the flatbread into a log, stretching it slightly in length, and twist it into a spiral, connecting both ends to form a circle.
Step 5
Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Step 6
Let the Turkish buns rise, brush them with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame and cumin seeds, and bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 20 to 25 minutes.
