Description
Turkish Buns with Potatoes and Feta Cheese
Ingredients
- Vegetable Oil - 1 fl oz
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Dry yeast - 0.7 oz
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Salad Potatoes - 2 pieces
- Milk - 7 fl oz
- Wheat Flour - 14.1 oz
- Toasted Sesame - 3 tablespoons
- Feta cheese - 3.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Dissolve the yeast in slightly warm milk, adding sugar. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Then add salt, vegetable oil, grated or mashed baked potatoes, crumbled feta cheese, and gradually sifted flour. Knead a soft and elastic dough. It is very important not to add too much flour; otherwise, the buns will turn out rubbery instead of airy. My dough was very soft. Let the dough rise at least twice in size, for about 1–1.5 hours.
Step 2
Divide the risen dough into 12 equal parts and shape each into a round bun. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes. Then lightly brush with milk and sprinkle with sesame seeds. I sprinkled half and left half plain, as my husband is not very fond of toppings.
Step 3
Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 4
Remove from the oven, let rest for 10–15 minutes, and serve.
