Description
In Turkey, bagels are made on every corner, and they are all generously sprinkled with sesame seeds. They are not difficult to prepare, but the dough will need to rise for a total of an hour and a half. Simit rolls are especially delightful for breakfast, served with butter, jam, and a strong spiced coffee.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 6.3 oz
- Salt - ½ spoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Dry yeast - 0.1 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 2 spoons
- Light Molasses - 2 spoons
- Sesame bun - 1 glass
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the sugar, yeast, and 125 ml of warm water, and let it sit for 3–5 minutes.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, mix the flour with salt and vegetable oil.
Step 3
Then add the water with the yeast and knead until the dough is smooth.
Step 4
Cover it with plastic wrap and place it in a warm spot for one to one and a half hours.
Step 5
Divide the dough into 4 equal parts, roll each one into a long sausage shape, then fold it in half, twist the ends of the dough together in a spiral, and connect the edges to form a bagel.
Step 6
Mix the molasses with 150 ml of water.
Step 7
Dip the simit in this mixture on both sides, then coat the simit in sesame seeds and transfer it to a baking sheet.
Step 8
Do the same with the remaining rolls, cover them with a towel, and let them rest for 30 minutes.
Step 9
Bake the simit in an oven preheated to 392°F for 15 minutes.
Step 10
Serve.
