Description
It's hard to find a ready-made <a href="https://eda.ru/recepty/vypechka-deserty/specii-dlja-jablochnogo-piroga-26443">spice mix for apple pie</a> here, so you'll have to make it yourself.
Ingredients
- Unbleached flour crackers - 1 cup
- Wheat Flour - 1 cup
- Salt - ½ teaspoon
- Butter - 10 tablespoons
- Water - 5 tablespoons
- Sugar - ¼ cup
- Apple - 4 pieces
- Pumpkin pie spices - ½ teaspoon
- Cider - 1 tablespoon
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 1 tablespoon
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Powdered Sugar - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
In a bowl, mix both flours and salt. Then add the chopped butter and mix well with your hands until crumbly. Add 4 tablespoons of water and mix until the dough comes together. Add more water if necessary. Roll the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Step 2
Meanwhile, peel the apples, remove the cores, and chop them into small pieces (to make about 3.5 cups).
Step 3
In a bowl, mix the apples, sugar, spices, cider, and lemon juice.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 392°F.
Step 5
Divide the dough into 10 parts and roll each out. Cut out circles and place the filling on each. Pinch the edges well and place the turnovers on a clean baking sheet.
Step 6
In a small bowl, lightly beat the egg white with 1 tablespoon of water. Brush the turnovers with the mixture and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
