Description
Uram is a Uzbek sweet treat.
Ingredients
- Chicken Egg - 1 piece
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- Cognac - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Vegetable Oil - 8 fl oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Powdered Sugar - 3 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Whisk the egg with sugar, salt, and baking powder, then add the milk and cognac (or vodka).
Step 2
Mix well, add the flour, and knead into a smooth dough, cover with a cloth, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Step 3
Dust the working surface with flour and roll out the dough thinly.
Step 4
Cut the dough into strips 3–4 cm wide.
Step 5
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pot or skillet until boiling.
Step 6
Wrap a strip around the end of a rolling pin and dip it into the hot oil.
Step 7
Hold the tip of the spiral with a spoon to prevent it from unrolling.
Step 8
Fry in the oil for a few seconds, then place the uram on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
Step 9
Transfer the uram to a plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
