Ingredients
- Butter - 6 oz
- Semi-soft cream cheese - 3 oz
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Egg white - 1 piece
- Vanillin - 1 teaspoon
- Wheat Flour - 2¾ cups
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - ¼ teaspoon
- Red Food Coloring - to taste
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Beat the butter, cream cheese, and sugar until fluffy. Add the egg, then add the vanillin and beat until smooth.
Step 2
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamy mixture. Knead the dough and divide it into 2 parts, adding different colored food coloring to each. Wrap each piece of dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 347°F. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured board. Cut out small balls using a button-shaped cutter (with 4 and 2 holes), pressing lightly to imprint the design.
Step 4
Place the buttons on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 15 minutes before baking. Bake in the oven for 8–10 minutes. Cool and serve with tea.
