  • Milk - 1 qt
  • Chicken Egg - 8 pieces
  • Sugar - 9.2 oz
  • Vanilla Pod - 1 piece

Slice the vanilla bean in half lengthwise and carefully scrape out the seeds with a knife. In a saucepan, heat the milk, seeds, and the vanilla pod. When the milk comes to a boil, turn off the heat and let it sit for 10 minutes.

Place 60 g of sugar in a saucepan, add a little water, and melt it until it turns into a beautiful amber-colored caramel. Carefully pour the caramel into a flan mold, taking care not to burn yourself. Let it sit until the caramel sets.

In a bowl, combine the remaining sugar and eggs. Add the cooled vanilla milk (removing the vanilla pod beforehand) and whisk thoroughly.

Pour the egg and milk mixture into a mold, place it in a deeper dish filled with water, and cover with foil. Put it in an oven preheated to 150°C (300°F). Bake for one to one and a half hours. The flan is ready when a skewer inserted into it comes out clean. Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool. Remove the mold and serve.
