Description
Vegan Apple Strudel
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 7.1 oz
- Water - 5 fl oz
- Olive Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
- Apple - 4 pieces
- Sugar - 2.1 oz
- Raisins - 3.5 oz
- Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
- Walnuts - 2 tablespoons
- Meyer Lemon Juice - 0 fl oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the flour with warm water and salt, gradually adding the olive oil, and knead a soft, slightly sticky dough. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 2 hours.
Step 2
Peel and slice the apples thinly. Soak the raisins in hot water for 5 minutes, then drain. Combine the apples and raisins, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon, drizzle with lemon juice, and let sit until the sugar dissolves.
Step 3
Generously dust a clean kitchen towel with flour, place the dough on it, and roll it out into a rectangle, not too thin. Then stretch the dough by hand in a circular motion until it becomes as transparent as tissue paper. Trim the tough edges.
Step 4
Spread the walnuts on the dough, then add the apple filling and, using the towel, roll it into a log. Transfer the log to a baking sheet and bake at 356°F for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow the finished strudel to cool and dust with powdered sugar.
