Description
The perfect recipe for days when vegetable oil is allowed. This recipe is taken from a group on social media called 'Vegan Feast'.
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour - 8.5 oz
- Salt - a pinch
- Sugar - 3.5 oz
- Baking Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Safflower Oil - 1 fl oz
- Water - 5 fl oz
- Oranges - 2 pieces
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Starch film - 0.8 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Mix the flour with a pinch of salt, add the baking powder and sugar. Stir everything together.
Step 2
Add the oil. Pour in a few tablespoons of water. It's better not to pour in as many tablespoons of water as I indicated (flour varies), but to add it gradually until the dough feels like a smooth, slightly sticky ball. Immediately set aside a small amount of dough (the size of a chicken egg), wrap it in plastic wrap, and place it in the freezer for 1 to 1.5 hours.
Step 3
Place the remaining dough in a greased baking dish (I have a small one) and form the edges to hold the filling (about 4-5 cm), then put it in the refrigerator.
Step 4
For the filling, ideally, the oranges and lemon should be passed through a meat grinder, but I don't have one. I chopped them at the lowest speed in a blender. If you chop in a blender, the consistency will be moist; if in a meat grinder, it will be dry. Remove the seeds and peel from the citrus fruits before chopping. Add sugar to taste; I added 1.5 tablespoons, which was not enough for me because the pie was a bit sour due to the lemon, so I recommend adding more. Add starch to the filling and leave it in a separate bowl.
Step 5
Spread the filling in the baking dish so that it does not go over the edges, and grate the frozen dough on top using a coarse grater.
Step 6
Bake in the oven at 392°F for 30 to 45 minutes.
