Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 1½ cups
  • Chicken Egg - 1 piece
  • Marinated cherries - 17.6 oz
  • Salt - 0 oz
  • Sugar - 5 tablespoons
  • Water - ½ cup

Step by Step guide

Step 1

The most challenging part of making cherry dumplings is pitting the cherries. But after the first five cherries, you'll get the hang of it and quickly manage this process. Just make sure not to miss any pits, as they can end up in the filling and could break a tooth. Once you're done pitting, let the cherries drain to minimize the juice. However, the laziest can use store-bought frozen and prepared cherries.

Step 2

While the cherries are resting, it's time to work on the dough. It's easy to make and turns out very tasty. Sift the flour into a bowl, create a small well in the center, crack the egg into it, and pour in the water. Then mix the dough until it reaches a uniform consistency. The finished dough should no longer stick to the sides of the bowl. Once it reaches this state, let it rest for about 20 minutes.

Step 3

In the meantime, mix the cherries with sugar. Add sugar to taste (the standard amount is 5 tablespoons).

Step 4

Next, knead the dough. Divide it into several parts, roll them into logs, and cut them into pieces. Roll each piece out with a rolling pin into circles with a diameter of 5-6-7 cm.

Step 5

Place filling in each circle, then carefully seal the dumplings. I highly recommend shaping them with wet hands.

Step 6

Dumplings cook in boiling water for 4-5 minutes in a large pot to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Serve the cherry dumplings with sugar, honey, or sour cream! They will be very delicious!
