Ingredients
- Egg white - 3 pieces
- Milk - 8 fl oz
- Wheat Flour - 17.6 oz
- Salt - to taste
- Sugar - 1.4 oz
- Butter - 2.1 oz
- Dry yeast - 0.5 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Pour 250 ml of milk into a saucepan and warm it to body temperature. Rub the yeast into 500 g of flour until it forms fine crumbs. Then also rub in 60 g of butter, add salt, 40 g of sugar, then 2 eggs and the milk. Knead the dough and let it rise, covered, for 1 hour.
Step 2
On a floured surface, divide the dough into 5 equal parts. Flatten each piece into a square and shape them into baguettes. Roll the baguettes, place them on a baking sheet, brush with egg, and make several diagonal cuts. Let them rise for 1 hour, covered.
Step 3
Preheat the oven to 482°F.
Step 4
Reduce the temperature to 428°F and bake the bread for 10 to 12 minutes.
