Ingredients
- Butter - 3 tablespoons
- French Baguette - 16 pieces
- Wheat Flour - 3 tablespoons
- Dark Ale - ½ cup
- Milk - ¼ cup
- English Dry Mustard - 1 teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper - a pinch
- Whole egg - 1 piece
- Cheshire Cheese - 6 oz
Step by Step guide
Step 1
Preheat the grill.
Step 2
Spread 2 tablespoons of butter on one side of the bread pieces and place them on the grill, buttered side up. Grill until golden brown for about 1-4 minutes.
Step 3
Melt the remaining butter in a pan over low heat. Add the flour and stir for 1 minute. Then add the ale and milk, whisking in the mustard, pepper, and grated cheese.
Step 4
Bring to a gentle boil over low heat, stirring, and cook for 2 minutes until smooth.
Step 5
Remove from heat and quickly stir in the yolk.
Step 6
Serve the toast with the cheese sauce.
