Description

Instead of syrup, you can use honey, and instead of lotus seeds, you can use prunes. If you've been to China, it's best to follow the recipe strictly. To ensure the mooncakes have a nice shape, it's better to grease the mold with vegetable oil, grease the ball, then flatten the ball in the mold, wrap the filling in it, and place it in the freezer to make it easier to remove from the mold later.

Ingredients

  • Wheat Flour - 5.3 oz
  • Large eggs - 1 piece
  • Sugar - ½ cup
  • Salt - ½ teaspoon
  • Lotus Root - 1 cup
  • Caramel Syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Baking Powder - 2 tablespoons
  • Whole egg - 1 piece
  • Nuts - ½ cup
  • Condensed Milk - 3.5 oz

Step by Step guide

Step 1

Mix the flour with powdered milk, baking powder, and salt.

Step 2

Beat the egg until it turns lemon-colored, then add sugar and continue beating for 10 minutes, adding the syrup at the very end.

Step 3

Thoroughly combine the egg mixture with the flour.

Step 4

Divide the dough into six parts.

Step 5

Filling: mix grated nuts with lotus seeds (or grated prunes).

Step 6

Wrap the filling in the dough. In China, this is done in special molds; I used silicone muffin molds.

Step 7

Then place the mooncakes on a baking sheet lined with greased parchment paper.

Step 8

Bake for 30 minutes at 356°F.
